About

I am a sahm to my little angel and wife to one great guy. I hope to share my experiences and insights on this site so that other parents, both newbies and veterans, will enjoy reading. Veterans will nod in agreement with much they read I’m sure, while newbies will scratch their heads and say, “Really?” Yes, really. This parenthood thing is amazing, and hard, and fulfilling, and wonderful, and exhausting… There really aren’t enough words to describe it, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the universe.

On a more personal level, I was valedictorian and president of my high school class. I went on to get my bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Texas – Hook ‘em Horns. I worked for 8 years at a private speech pathology clinic where I did everything from scheduling, filing all insurance claims, and writing payroll checks. And after all of that hard work, I was still not prepared for this – the most important job of all – mommyhood. I quit work when I was 8 months pregnant and haven’t worked since. Scratch that, I haven’t earned reportable income since. I am so excited to get back into writing and will be looking for freelance editing work when A starts school full-time. In the meantime, I’m happy to just be writing again.

I’ve known my wonderful hubby pretty much my entire life. In fact, our moms went to high school together. Yes, we are from a very small town back east. He was my brother’s best friend when I was in junior high. We later started dating, moved away from everyone and everything we knew and started over in Texas in 1996. Now this is home and we are thrilled to be raising our little girl here. I am so happy to think of all the opportunities she has. We did okay with next to no opportunity, so my outlook for her is so bright. I know she has a world of possibilities and that just gives my soul such joy. Words cannot express what I want for her. I think the word that comes closest to what I want for A is “bliss.” It is definitely what we feel when we look at her, talk to her, teach her something. Yes, that’s my word until I find a better one.
