Six-Year Stats…

A had her well check yesterday and everything looked good.  She is in the 97th percentile for both height and weight.  No big surprise there :-)   She was completely off the charts for her age for a very long time.  We are so blessed to have a healthy girl.  She weighs 68 lbs and is 49.5 inches tall.  Oh, and A’s newest Webkinz checked out just fine too :-)

July 4, 2010

We had a great time with the T family for our holiday festivities.  They brought a grill and some wonderful food with them to our house, and we all enjoyed an evening of food, games, and great times.  We had chicken fajitas, brownies, and of course the dessert that A and I had made.  Everything was just delicious and it was a great evening.  A wanted everyone to do a talent show and that was a huge hit too.  We followed everything up with some pool playing in the media room and then off to the fireworks we went.  Awesome holiday with family and friends who feel like family!

Independence Day Dessert

We started a tradition last year when we made a pound cake dessert that I had seen on tv.  A just loved it and she couldn’t wait to make it again this year.  So today, she and I went and got all the ingredients and got right to work.  Enjoy the pictures.  I know we will be enjoying the pound cake tomorrow with the T family :-)

I got two pound cakes and covered them with cool whip.

Main Event with T!

On Thursday we met up  with T and her momma for some fun at Main Event.  The girls played some games and had a great time.  We even ran into C and S there!  After the games, the girls played mini golf and then we had some lunch.  The pizza was really good!  The wait for bowling was an hour so we just hung out and visited a little bit.  The girls had a great time together as usual :-)

A and I followed up that fun with an afternoon at the movies with Hubby.  We saw The Last Airbender and it was awesome!  Fun Thursday :-)

A Gets Her White Belt!

This afternoon was A’s second one-on-one karate class.  She went over everything she had worked on in the last class and learned a bit more this time too.  She has now earned her white belt and is ready to begin classes.  We will be starting that soon and never worry, pictures will be coming :-)

We were very proud of our girl!

The instructor put the belt on her. It was cool!

A Loses Her Other Front Tooth!

Well, the grin is getting cuter all the time.  This afternoon A lost her other front tooth.  The tooth fairy is pretty busy in our house!  That was Tooth #6!

She has now lost the front bottom four and the top two. You can see the bigger ones that are coming in.

J’s Super Fun Bowling Birthday Party

On Saturday we headed  down to UT at the Union bowling alley for J’s 6th birthday party.  Six of the nine kids from A’s class were there so she was really excited to see everyone.  The kids bowled and had yummy pizza and cupcakes.  Fun afternoon!  Happy Birthday J :-)

Lucas Miller, Cupcakes, and Playtime!

T and I took the kids to the Hutto Public Library today to catch the Lucas Miller show.  It was fabulous!  A and I had seen him before at the toy store and the Cedar Park Library, but it was T’s and her kiddies’ first time seeing him.  They loved the show.  We bought some CD’s, had them autographed, and took some pictures.  It was a great way to spend the morning.  I think we all learned some cool stuff too :-)   Since one of my good buddies has a restaurant in Hutto, we stopped in there for lunch.  She was very pleased and surprised.  And she gave A some birthday money too!  We were so grateful.  It was great to see you Ms. T.  We were glad to see you have great business for lunch, but sure wished we had more time to chat with you.  We’ll be back soon, we promise.

After lunch, we headed back to our house for some cupcakes (see yesterday’s post) and hours of playing.  The highlight I think was when little A (J’s little brother) came downstairs in a very stylish dress.  A and J had a great time today and even though they were together nonstop since about 10:oo am, they were very sad to say goodbye.  I count that as a good day amongst friends :-)

This song was great. It was a rap song about honey bees and taught about protecting the hive. The analogy is of course that our hive is the earth. Loved the message and how it was tied in.

Fun Thursday – Mr. Puppet and Cupcakes!

We met up with T and her kiddos this morning and convoyed down to a library in Austin to see Mr. Puppet.  We hadn’t seen him since last summer and he didn’t disappoint.  The show was great as always and A just loved seeing him again.  He remembered her by name!  J really enjoyed the show too.  It was her first time seeing him.  Those girls were in the very front and had the best time together.  After the show we headed to Chick-Fil-A for some lunch.  The kids played for a bit as well.  We cut it short though because that place got really crowded fast!  So A and I headed to meet Hubby for some yogurt and then knocked out the week’s grocery run.

That brings me to the second part of today – cupcakes!  We had a box of cake mix leftover from Hubby’s birthday cake-making awesomeness, so we picked up some baking cups and a cool can of icing with a top like you find on whipped cream.  That was the easiest time I have ever had decorating cupcakes!  They were very yummy too :-)

A Starts Karate!

A had her first one-on-one karate class this afternoon and she did great.  The instructor is super nice and patient, really great with kids.  Hubby and I both really like him.  A loved him!  He taught her how to enter the gym, bow, enter the mat, three blocks, how to punch, and how to kick.  She has another one-on-one class on Monday and after that she will be ready to attend regular class.  The classes for her age group are only 30 minutes.  I have been worrying about how we will fit this into our schedule this fall, but I think we can swing it if we do the 5:30 classes.  What can I say?  It’s great exercise, teaches discipline, and this kid loves it.  I really can’t argue with too much about it.  Oh, and by the way, the uniform is so cute that I could barely stand it :-)   Her class will be the Little Dragons.  A little green dragon is on the back of the uniform.
